celebrating
School holidays.
Children who are friends, particularly girls who give each other a hug when they wake up. I don't expect it to last but I do celebrate it.
A middle sized girl who has discovered how fast her legs are and wants to walk everywhere. 'Let's not drive to the park Mum. You can carry Ivy.'
Children who dress themselves. Whatever.
The infinite distraction and imagination of Lego Ninjago for seven year old boys.
But right now, most of all, her. TWO.
Youngest. Beloved. Fiercely determined. Compliant (first of three). OK, Mum. (And verbal.)
A tent. A place just hers.
On Huppa's (aka Grandpa's) bike, checking the water tanks with Dad, looking out for foxes, chattering to the cows.
She's one happy two year old.
Celebrating happy.

P.S. The cake is our favourite family birthday cake, The Utterly Awesome Chocolate Cake (did I seriously call it that?!) Everyone needs an excuse to make this every now and then.

July 3, 2012 at 12:58 amOh I laughed at the backwards jeans photo 😉
I remember Ivy’s birth announcement on here like it was yesterday and there she is, looking so grown up.
And that chocolate cake – I have no words. It is my signature chocolate cake now, I owe you one!

July 3, 2012 at 8:34 amDo you enjoy the holidays? I love the not rushing in the morning but then the pleasure wears thin…especially when everyone is sick! Still wishing I could have a wee little pig, I’m thinking I should try and find someone around here who will lend me one to dig up the new vegetable garden. Have a gorgeous week.

Ha! I do enjoy the holidays the relaxing of the routine, the movie nights, the not packing school lunches every morning. Yep rent a pig, thats an awesome idea!

July 3, 2012 at 10:41 amLooking forward to our holidays starting next week. Hope Ivy had a lovely birthday – we had chocolate cake with freckles on the weekend too, for a tenth birthday party.
My boy is incapable of putting his pants on the right way around – we have to check every morning before he heads to school.

July 3, 2012 at 4:03 pmHappy Birthday Ivy! And happy celebrating. You certainly have some beautiful reasons to celebrate!
PS. Our neighbour celebrated her daughters half birthday with a movie and cupcakes recently. Much like my 1000th blog post, Cohen’s half birthday came and went without any fuss. 🙂

July 5, 2012 at 7:33 amHappy Birthday Ivy!… The pants on backwards – so endearing… I remember my son doing the same – a natural part of the learning process… Seeing it again made me smile… You have a beautiful family with a capitol “B”… but you know that [SMILE]… Have a great day!
