discovering the pine forest

I remember one time when we were staying with Ad's folks in Armidale, talking about the medieval re-enacters that take over part of the pine forest every year.

Being a medieval-head you might think I'd pick up hand-stitched skirts and race towards swords and cooking pots and makeshift authentic tents.

Not so much.

My deep fascination with all parts of medieval life remains undwindled but I don't want to be there. Or even really pretend to be. Hooray for the twenty first century.

Poking around the pine forest though? Awesome fun.

With a bunch of friends and kids on bikes and some highly processed kids snacks we wouldn't normally touch, a fantastic afternoon.

My very dear friend Catriona was visiting Armidale too. We got to hang out. Giggle. Engage in photo-bombing. All our favourite things made harder by now living in different states.

And now we're safely home, boxing up trays and trays of eggs (thanks Dad!) and marvelling at what a tiny bit of rain does for a veggie garden!

It's the beginning of the long school holidays and the TV just broke. I'm secretly thrilled.

There's a flying fox to install, a treehouse to build and SO MUCH spinach to pick and cook!

What are you doing? And what would you do with a tonne of spinach??
