One of the greatest challenges (read: fiascos) in feeding children is making stuff that you want them to eat that they actually want to eat.

I have friends who feed their kids only macrobiotic and organic food, who's 4 yr olds snack on home-made sushi and carrot sticks. That's awesome. But sadly not my present reality.

Today I made up a biscuit that fulfills biscuityness, but is not bad in the health stakes.

Oatmeal and Maple Syrup Biscuits

125g butter
1/2 cup raw sugar
1 egg
1.5 cups plain wholemeal flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 cup oatbran
1 cup oats
2 dessertspoons maple syrup

Method:

Melt butter, add sugar, then egg, then all your dry ingredients then the syrup at the end. Let sit for a few minutes if it's too sticky to roll, then roll into balls and cook in mod over (180 deg) for 10-15 mins depending on your oven.) Makes about 24.

Did they like them?

Tilly (2) loved them. Henry (4) said, "I don't like biscuits." Of course.

(I liked them; chewy, not too sweet, oaty. EASY. Perfect.)
