nothing says summer like…
A trip to the beach
(iphone pics)
Summer's here in Sydney! The windows are all open and the gardenias are in full fragrant bloom.
I need to spend my spare time this week doing Christmas (and some birthday) sewing, so am going to drop in briefly here each day and do a 'nothing says Summer like…' photo series.
Hopefully will have some lovely Christmas craft reports for you next week!
Meanwhile – what says Summer to you?

November 15, 2010 at 6:38 pmI remember trips to south wollongong beach sitting on the vinyl bench seat in my dad’s ford (circa 1978 or 79) sliding around in my still wet swimmers with a lovely sand collection in the crotch. (nice :)) The big treat was the bucket of hot chips with sandy fingers. Sunscreen usage was a bit on the scant side back then but now days i love the smell of it on brodys skin. What else MMMmm mango’s, cherries and the smell of jasmine on a hot summers night. xxx

November 15, 2010 at 6:38 pmSummer is bare feet on lush grass, children squealing under sprinklers, icecream cones dripping down to your elbows, that slightly salty feeling on your skin from a day at the beach and late dinners as the evening cools. I love summer!

November 15, 2010 at 8:53 pmJell-us!! It was ONE degree here this morning as I piled on the layers to walk to work š but we did have a lovely summer so I can’t complain too much.
Summer has come to mean different things to me over here – the first glass of Pimm’s, English strawberries being in season (they are beautiful), eating brunch outside, not having to wear a coat (!), flip flops being acceptable footwear, lazy afternoons dozing under trees in the parks (parks are like beaches here), grilled haloumi on the barbecue, outdoor music festivals, sushi picnics in the park….it’s a lovely, lovely time of year here.
Living here makes me appreciate and notice the seasons more! š xx

November 16, 2010 at 12:45 amGot to love Green Ink!!! Yes, I agree – Pimms and English strawberries…. And sitting outside until 11pm in relative daylight.
I think I’ll be a controversial wee thing and start a ‘nothing says winter like….’ for all us overseas followers:
cold frosty mornings with glorious sun
running as the sun rises with mist/fog clearing and deer running out of the fields and into the woods
Winter clothes: woollen skirts, tights, boots, jumpers, scarves
casseroles & soups
Christmas:
…carol singing
…big roast dinner
…mulled wine!
Have a happy summer’s day, darling Fi, but I’m enjoying winter too!

November 16, 2010 at 3:34 amAlex, that’s lovely, thanks! For the next few months I’m definitely in the wrong hemisphere, but I do love…
Warm slippers
A fire in the fireplace
Drawing the curtains at 4 pm
2 year olds bundled up so they can hardly bend, but they don’t care, they’re just so happy to get outside and run!
Very much looking forward to your summer pics, Fi, and also to see your crafts!
