something’s cooking

Hello!

I feel like I've only been dropping in here lately, not wrapping my arms round this space like I usually do. (I love hanging out here, SO love it, and am glad you drop in too, thank you.)

There's been a few things cooking behind the scenes in the last few months.

Today I spent a lovely five hours in a commercial kitchen baking baking baking. GOSH I love it. Baking for this little company:

Buena Vista Farm is my family farm, if you've been sticking around here for a while you've seen the photos! It's the reason Adam and I moved south, and we're hoping to launch a range of products off the farm shortly. More on that soon.

In the meantime, while we're busy planning to expand the coffee trees and plant some organic veg and raise meat hens and free range layers, I thought I'd stick with what I know, and that's biscuits.

We are going to be at Gerringong Markets on Sat 20 Aug – my first market! Hooray! Hopefully lots more to come, so maybe I'll see you there!

Our website is in development and we will be selling bikkies online, I'll keep you posted.

We will hopefully be building a commercial kitchen on the farm, once a bunch of Council approvals are granted, but meanwhile I was so lucky to find a commercial kitchen locally that is available for hire by the hour. Perfect. And it's awesome. I go in there and pat the industrial dishwasher like it's a pet. I silently admire the endless stainless steel benches and racks and racks of baking trays. Heaven.

So this is kind of an excuse too – this space might be a little bit quieter as we gear up for full product launch. I'm really lucky there's a number of distributers locally who will stock my bikkies (you'll be able to buy them through here from next week) and I'm madly approving labels for print and finalizing nutritional panels and sourcing vinyl stallholder banner printers.

And there are more biscuits on my kitchen counter in massive tubs right now than I've ever seen in one place.

I'll share the whole range with you in the next few days as I get some photos of them for Greenbox. These, ready to go into the oven, are Good Old Rock Cakes:

It would have been much more sensible to go into business selling anything other than biscuits, really. Because I'm not much of a biscuit head at all. Maybe chocolate would have been worse for my bum. Could hardly be.

Hope you've had a lovely week and that your head isn't spinning as fast as mine is.
