the romantics
I don't go in for sentimentality. It actually annoys the crap out of me. I don't like clichés or empty gestures and it probably goes without saying that I really don't like the crazy commercial crapola that is Valentine's Day.
Having said that, I love my man. Adore him wholeheartedly (you would too, he's a bit marvellous.)
We don't do flowers on Feb 14th, we sometimes do cards and we'll take any excuse for chocolate. How's this, though, for a gift of love?
We've ordered seeds and are planning quite a sizable patch, one that'll hopefully feed the family and all that, but in the meantime, it's getting on in February and it's time to plant lettuces in Australia. So while I'm waiting for the seeds, Adam worked through a rainy Sunday afternoon yesterday and put in a salad bar garden for me.
He is ten types of terrific.
So maybe I can stretch to just a little silliness….
(The kids love these! I found them at Aldi last week. Lamb and pasta salad for dinner tonight.)
Do you go in for Valentine's day? (Does anyone?!)

February 15, 2011 at 4:06 amNow that’s True Love. Every time you use you salad patch you will feel loved. That pasta is gorgeous. I’m not well and my hubby is making dinner tonight – great Valentine when it’s service with a smile.

February 15, 2011 at 7:33 amwell aren’t you a lucky one! i got flowers, even though i made him promise not to get me anything for valentine’s (i hate all the crap too). i’d rather have had the coldframe he’s been promising to make me for a month. Or the back massage he never has time for.
But sometimes these men just need reminding. mine does at least!

February 15, 2011 at 8:26 amI think they most need reminding! Or active encouragement towards a goal. i.e. here’s my Amazon wish list honey. Right here. See this list? It’s my wish list. xxx

February 15, 2011 at 11:23 amNope dont really do it. Actually it is lucky if we remember it on the day. LOL
But for yesterday’s celebration I did buy a box of chocolates. Any excuse will do to be allowed to eat the stuff

February 15, 2011 at 10:20 pmno we don’t do it either. but we did send a few sweet txt msgs to each other.
salad bar garden, i love it. i need one. i did see 5mins of a home/garden show where they put an old trampoline upside over a (measured and built) vege garden adn then put netting over the whole thing to keep the possums, cats and bush turkeys out. we need one of those at our place!

February 16, 2011 at 8:44 amwe tend to make it about the kids as much as each other – a little love note at the breaky table, watermelon cut into heart shapes, a special arvo tea. I do love it when I get flowers, and hubby did not disappoint with some lovely red roses. 😀

February 16, 2011 at 2:55 pmThat’s a great valentine’s activity! My observance of valentines day was to say ‘oh yeah’ when the husband wished me happy happy in the morning – which was also the extent of his observance of the festiivities 🙂
