August 27, 2010 at 9:07 pmAre you kidding with that costume? Please tell me you didn’t actually make it yourself! P-H-E-N-O-M-E-N-A-L!

August 27, 2010 at 9:11 pmAw thanks! Actually it’s not as fancy as you’d think: I found a hairy old brown coat for $1 at the op shop and sewed the purple prickles and a tail on. And laminated a mask. Which you sent me a link for (thank you.) He wore it all day and out for dinner tonight.

August 27, 2010 at 9:42 pmLOVE the costume – what a great job you did on it!! And I’m loving that he wore it out to dinner – very cute. Did he get many comments? *S*
My moment is at http://www.lulusmama.typepad.com – it’s nothing that special, just the sun shining in my kitchen window; what can I say? I can’t wait till Spring! xx

August 27, 2010 at 9:51 pmWhat an amazing Gruffalo costume. My 3 year old daughter is obsessed but luckily not wise enough to make requests like that. Thankfully since I’m an awful sewer!

August 28, 2010 at 6:08 amThis is so lovely – and I know you were going for Gruffalo but there is also some thing very “Where the wild things are” about this.
Awesome. You were meant to find that coat and give it new life.

August 28, 2010 at 11:44 amGreat costume. Our school is having dress-up day next week (for book week). Last year my daughter went as Alice in Wonderland now all the girls in her class seem to be obsessed with Harry Potter. So she is going as Harry this year. What a difference a year makes!

August 29, 2010 at 9:41 amDon’t believe the modest Innerpickle lady, the costume really is as good as it looks! Not slap dash, whatever she protests, and truly inspired. All the dinner companions were EXTREMELY impressed.
Fi, Doug thought it might be good if you held onto the costume so Jimmy could wear it to our Book Week next year (he has, quite rightly, no faith in my ability to come up with something like good). Sounds like a fine plan to me 🙂

August 31, 2010 at 3:24 amFi, my keyboard was not working the other day, and I typed merrily away for a while, looking at my hands, before I realised it. I think the gist of it was, “wow, those are some purple prickles all over that back!” Astounding. You’re a love, and he’s a lucky little gruffalo.
