This weekend I taught myself how to knit rib stitch (with the help of YouTube.)

Bless the internet.

This (above) is the beginning of a beanie which I started before I went back to Lincraft yesterday afternoon and bought circular knitting needles! So, a flat-knit one that you sew up. It's for Ad, the champion bike-riding hero of my day(s).

'Cept he has a big noggin so damn I hope it fits.

And for Valentine's day (happy Valentine's day!) I made him some fourteenth-century food. Really, what more could a man want, I ask you?

Details tomorrow!

Happy Sunday.

Well done! Motivating me to get started on my creative sewing plans. Can’t wait to read about the 14th c food. And, by the way, my head would not ‘klunk’ on the desk while reading your thesis. I would find it very interesting.

My New Years resolution was to learn to knit properly, and learn to drive. Well, lessons next week for the latter, and the former is still in it’s planning stages – I knit like a five year old: am not very fast and get lost when counting stitches and rows.

That said, last night I was so inspired that I made a curtain for behind the front door, and then, because it was *only* 11pm, I made a pair of curtains for the lounge. Very pleased with myself this morning! And the bonus? I didn’t get cross with the sewing machine once!!

Hey Fi, have you tried bamboo needles? If not, next time you need some give them a go. You will NEVER look back…. bliss in two sticks! I’ve been inspired to finish the final arm on a jumper I started for Oli months ago now too by the way, so thanks!

I’m liking that beanie for the Adman. Very nice-looking wool. Hey, what sized needles do you use for scarves & beanies? xo

I think Tilly’s scarf was 12 ply and I used 5.5mm needles and Ad’s beanie wool is 8 play and I’m using 4.5mm xxx
